Salam!
On Wednesday evening I wanted to get some stuff from the John Little Sale at Marina Square, so I ended up at Masjid Moulana Mohd Ali for Maghrib, Isyak and Terawih. For the uninitiated, this mosque is the underground mosque underneath UOB Plaza at Raffles Place.Take note that the azan for prayer is about 10 minutes after the actual time.
Fact: This mosque is air-conditioned! Only during prayer times though.
I only did Terawih here once or twice before and it was always only 8 raka’at. Since it was a nice cool atmosphere I thought might as well stay for twenty. The SMRT station isn’t that far away anyway. The congregation was mostly made up of Indian Muslims but there was a smattering of Malay Muslims too. I like this place because:
- It’s not crowded
- It’s air-conditioned
- It’s accessible (near MRT)
- A number of places to goof off nearby (Starbucks, Mac’s, riverside seats…)
- It’s air-conditioned
- I feel anonymous
It’s a very strategically located mosque. Before Ramadhan, I always utilize it on the weekends when I have my weekend jaunts at Far East Square.
